Nancy Wilson and Maisie Richardson

Nancy Wilson (jazz singer) was born to Olden Wilson as an ironworker in Chillicothe on February 20, 1937. Her mother, Lillian Ryan worked as housekeeper. Nancy is the eldest of six siblings. Cannonball addederley advised her to relocate in New York for her career after which she moved into The Big Town. Within a couple of weeks, Adderley's manager heard her singing and hired her. Capitol Records came out with five Nancy Wilson albums over a two-year period. She initially focused on rhythm and blues under the influence of Adderley, she shifted away from R&B and began to embrace music from jazz and torch. Nancy Wilson and Cannonball Adderley's collaboration in 1962 helped to make her a star as well as her hit Tell Me the Truth was made available in the year 1963. The performance helped her land a gig in the New York Coconut Grove in 1963, which was America's biggest nightclub.
