Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B with a distinctive mix. Sunshine has appeared on Broadway as well as during the Democratic National Convention and in clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began the musical path by singing and playing piano in the church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B music scene. The Fighting Temptations The single that featured her vocals, Stalk You A House 12 came out only in Japan. It's been remixed several times, and it is a mainstay of her live show. Her voice has also been a part of singing for The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. In 2005, she was the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award winner) was approached for an opportunity to be the choir conductor for Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national notice during the four performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
