Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar by his folk-inspired pop hits that were often rooted in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, Denver fell in affection with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's popular state anthems has drawn many people newcomers to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. Denver is viewed as a symbol of Colorado by people all over the world. While traveling, I've met people from New Zealand or the other side. If you tell them you're from Colorado the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint in a folk group and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was the one who wrote the song to imitate the style of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear the song's early versions and was aware that it was going to be a top 10 smash. Following the performance during a concert in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver did a song recording just a few days afterward.
